Today was our second day with the NSCD. In the morning we assisted a 42 year old male that has cerebral palsy who uses a sit ski, and in the afternoon a 75 year old woman that has a brain injury that uses a sit ski. Miles and I were working in the same lesson and began collecting footage for our video. Both the students we worked with today were experienced sit skiers and needed little assistance. It was very cool to see some sit skiers making turns all the way down the mountain. Tomorrow we will focus on collecting a lot of footage so we can begin to edit our project.
Today was our first day at Winter Park Resort with the NSCD. We kicked off the day at 9:00 with some informational videos about blind skiers and EB students. Then we began our Green Circle training. We learned how to operate and load different types of sit skis, ski bikes and other ski support equipment onto the lift. Our training ended around lunch time, then we began to assist actual patients for the remainder of the day.
