Artist Name: Tanner Smith
Artist Statement: My piece was inspired by my countless unforgettable experiences I have had in the outdoors. I was very motivated to create a project that displays my passion and enthusiasm for the wilderness. For this project I combined several images I took during my time in the outdoors into one piece. In this display I have images from camping, hunting, hiking and even one that was taken on a Geology field trip. Growing up in such a beautiful place, I developed such a passion for the outdoors at a very young age. Almost every one of my greatest memories are from some beautiful place in the mountains. I incorporated a image of my dog because she shares most of these adventures with me. She is only a year old and we have gone on countless trips through mother nature. I know that she shares just as great of a passion for the outdoors as I do. Most of the pictures I used in this piece were gathered from previous camping trips but I did go out on a hike one morning to see if I could take any photos specifically for this project. As I ventured up La Plata canyon with my dog at about six in the morning it was a perfect reminder of why I loved mother nature so much. Although I did not end up using any of the photos I took that morning, I had a great time climbing the beautiful mountains of Colorado with one of my closest companions.
